What Areas Can Be Treated With Laser Hair Removal?

For many people, taking care of unwanted hair has been a part of their life for years. It can start to feel annoying and repetitive to have to constantly deal with waxing, tweezing, and shaving away large sections of hair. At Still Waters Day and Medical Spa in Pensacola, FL, we help our clients finally break free from this cycle with laser hair removal. If you’re interested in hair reduction that lasts, this could be an option for you.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Laser Hair Removal?

Bikini Line

Many people find that the skin around their bikini line is sensitive, which can make it prone to razor burn, ingrown hairs, or irritation after shaving and waxing. Laser hair removal can be a great choice for patients who want to avoid ingrown hairs. It treats the hair at the root, so it can help prevent and actually treat painful ingrown hairs.

Whether you want to feel ready for the beach year-round, or you just prefer that this area is hairless without the hassle of shaving and waxing, we’d be happy to help you reach your goals.

Leg Hair

Patients are often very excited to have their leg hair treated, as this can be one of the most annoying areas to wax or shave. Shaving legs can take a long time, and there’s always a risk of missing a patch if you’re in a rush. Waxing requires that you either spend time getting things set up just right and hoping it works the first time, or regularly scheduling appointments.

Laser removal can give you back the wasted time you spend on unwanted hair, and can help you feel ready and groomed no matter how busy you get.

Arm Hair

Some people don’t want to completely get rid of arm hair, but would like to thin it out. Others would prefer not to have any arm hair at all. Having a treatment personalized for your needs and goals can allow you to get the results you want, so we’d be happy to talk you through the process and help you achieve what you’re looking for.

Underarms

The underarms are one of the most common areas patients want to treat. Many people prefer not to have underarm hair, and find that removing it helps them feel more confident in their favorite outfits. Underarm hair may also serve to trap odor, so patients who have it permanently reduced may find that their underarm odor is reduced along with the hair.

Back Hair

Even trying to look at your back in the mirror can be an acrobatic challenge. Shaving and waxing this area on your own can feel almost impossible. Patients of any gender can find themselves wrestling with back hair, which could make them feel self-conscious.

Waxing unwanted hair can be effective, but you’ll still have to make the waxing appointments consistently to stay on top of your results. Laser hair removal can help you get lasting benefits so you can stop worrying about back hair.

Chest Hair

Thick chest hair may be difficult to shave, and this area’s sensitivity may make waxing difficult. If you have unwanted chest hair, this may be a helpful way to reduce hair growth and increase your self-confidence.

Facial Hair

Unwanted hair can spring up just about anywhere, and the face is unfortunately no exception. It’s common for patients to want to address hair on their upper lip, chin, or jawline. Many patients, even those who don’t mind shaving in general, are uncomfortable shaving their face and don’t want to tweeze it or bleach it constantly either. Laser removal can help banish your unwanted five o’clock shadow for the long haul.

How Should I Prepare for My Treatment?

Before Your Treatment

A consultation is the first step before we move on to treatment. Once we talk about what your goals are and we determine whether this treatment has the best chance of giving you the results you want, we can then give you all the information you need to be ready for your first appointment.

Since the laser needs to target the pigment of your hair, you shouldn’t wax or pluck your hair before treatment. Shaving a day or two before your appointment should be fine, but we can give you personalized advice based on your hair type and the area that you’re treating.

During Your Treatment

Together, we can come up with a treatment plan and schedule your appointments. We can talk you through what to expect during your treatment, and offer eye protection as well. We will then use a handheld device to target the specified areas quickly and accurately. We’re proud to use a system that is known for its speed and efficiency.

Our laser will target the pigment in your hair, and the follicles will respond by translating this energy into heat. This in turn will damage the follicles, which will lead to lasting hair reduction.

Length of Treatment

The Splendor X laser is able to deliver treatment three times faster than many other available lasers. Its blended technology allows it to be used for all skin types, and the square spot head allows us to cover more surface area and reduce the risk of missed spots or overlapping. All of these factors help make our appointments as fast as possible.

We’ll be able to give you a better time estimate when we know what areas you want to treat. Some treatments may take less than a half hour, while others could take a little longer. In either case, you may want to bring along your favorite music so you can enjoy your time as we deliver your results.

After Your Treatment

Laser hair removal doesn’t require any downtime, so you could potentially slip in an appointment on your lunch break and get right back to work afterward. This convenient benefit helps make scheduling much more convenient for those with busy schedules.

What Should I Expect After Treatment?

Lasting Results

Results from shaving tend to only be good for a day before stubble comes in. Waxing may last longer, but eventually, the hair will keep coming back after you wax and tweeze it away. For permanent hair reduction, laser hair removal is an excellent option. With thorough treatment, you should expect results that last for the long run. Once follicles are damaged, their ability to produce hair is drastically altered.

This is considered a way to permanently and powerfully reduce hair growth. After their series is complete, some people may find that there is occasional hair growth. That said, the reason laser removal is so popular is due to its smooth, even, long-lasting results. If you do get any hair growth it should be quite rare and very easy to get rid of. If you have questions about hair growth after treatment, we’d be happy to answer.

Your Series

Many patients find that a treatment series is helpful in getting them the results they want. Each bit of skin has a surprising number of follicles on it, so going through a treatment series can help make sure each follicle is treated.

In addition, follicles are most receptive to treatment when they’re in the “active” phase of their growth cycle. Hair tends to take turns being “active” and “passive,” so by spacing out your treatments we have the best chance of syncing up with your hair growth cycle. How many treatments we recommend can depend on your goals and the treatment area. We would be happy to work with your schedule as we figure out the best fit for your needs.

Your Timeline

When you hear about a treatment series, you may assume that you’ll have to wait until the end of the series to see your results. Thankfully, laser hair removal tends to show benefits pretty quickly.

While the treatment series is a way to encourage results that are even and long-lasting, many patients will notice their hair thinning out after their very first treatment. This could happen as quickly as a week or two after your first appointment.
