How Long Does Vollure Last?

At Still Waters Day & Medical Spa in Pensacola, FL, we understand how frustrating it is to feel self-conscious about one of your facial features. It can be particularly frustrating to feel self-conscious about the appearance of your lips because it is harder to contour them with makeup than other parts of the face. For this reason, we are proud to offer Juvederm Vollure injections to help our clients improve their self-confidence.

There are a number of benefits of this injectable dermal filler. It is primarily used to augment the lips, but it can also address other cosmetic concerns, like nasolabial folds and marionette lines. In addition to its cosmetic benefits, people also love how quickly they see the results of their treatment and how long the results last. Keep reading to learn more about this durable, versatile treatment, including how long it lasts and how you can enjoy your results longer.

How Long Does Vollure Last?

You can generally expect Vollure results to last for around 1.5 years, two to three times longer than other treatments. However, individual results vary. Some of the most significant factors affecting how long your results will last include your age, diet, and lifestyle choices. Your age affects the longevity of your results because this treatment works by inducing extra collagen production in the Vollure treatment area. The older you are, the more slowly you produce collagen.

Your diet also plays a significant role in the longevity of your results. If you want your results to last as long as possible, it is very important that you nourish your body. The most important macronutrient for your skin health is protein. This macronutrient is vital because it is made up of amino acids. These amino acids are used by your body to produce collagen, the protein that volumizes and supports your skin.

What Can I Do To Extend the Longevity of My Results?

If you want to extend the longevity of your results, you need to prioritize keeping your skin as healthy as possible. One of the most effective steps you can take to improve your skin health is to stop smoking if you’re a smoker. Other steps you can take to enjoy longer-lasting results include staying hydrated, exercising regularly, and minimizing UV exposure. Here’s a closer look at how to enjoy results that last as long as possible.

Don’t Smoke

Refraining from nicotine consumption is essential if you want to keep your skin as healthy as possible. Collagen is one of the most important supportive substances in the foundational layer of your skin. Its structure is mesh-like, and nicotine molecules get trapped in the holes in the protein’s structure. This results in the collagen, and the skin it supports, sagging.

Smoking is also bad for your skin health because it affects circulation negatively. Your circulatory system is vital for keeping your skin young, tight, smooth, and healthy. If you don’t feel like you can stop smoking completely, do your best to cut back on your nicotine consumption.

Stay Hydrated

It is also very important that you stay hydrated if you want to maintain your skin health for as long as possible. It is generally advisable for women to drink at least 48 ounces of water daily, and men should generally aim to drink at least 64 to 80 ounces of water daily. Depending on your diet and lifestyle, though, this may not be adequate. If your urine is consistently pale, you don’t need to make an effort to drink more water.

If your urine is dark, you need to increase your fluid intake or retention. If you feel like you’re drinking as much as you can, you don’t need to force yourself to drink more water. Instead, you can add a little sodium to your diet to increase the amount of water your body retains. You can also increase your hydration by snacking on produce that is very high in water, like melons, berries, carrots, and broccoli.

Exercise Regularly

You should also exercise regularly if you want to keep your pout plump for as long as possible. Aerobic exercise supports your cardiovascular system. Your cardiovascular system is responsible for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and other substances to your skin. This is crucial for your skin to produce collagen. As a general rule, you should aim to get at least 2.5 hours of moderate aerobic activity every week.

Note that, for the most part, it doesn’t matter what type of aerobic exercise you do. For instance, you can swim for an hour per week, spin for an hour per week, and go for a 30-minute walk on your lunch break one day. However, it is very important that you avoid vigorous exercise for the first 24 to 48 hours after your injections are administered.

Helpful Exercise Tips

The higher your metabolism is, the more quickly your body will break down the hyaluronic acid. Since vigorous exercise can increase your metabolism significantly for a long period of time, your body may break down the injected gel too quickly if you get vigorous cardio after treatment. After a day or two, if you opt for vigorous aerobic exercise, you only need 1.25 hours of cardio per week.

Minimize UV Exposure

Minimizing UV exposure is another effective step you can take to extend the longevity of your results. It is a very good idea to avoid tanning beds because they emit UV rays which damage your existing collagen. Furthermore, UV rays impede your skin’s ability to produce more collagen. It is important to keep in mind that the sun’s UV rays are also harmful.

If you have fair skin or a family history of certain skin conditions, like melanoma, you need to wear an SPF 55 sunblock every day. If you have darker skin, an SPF 30 or 35 sunblock will probably provide you with adequate protection. Furthermore, if your risk of sun-related skin problems is high, you should minimize the amount of direct sun exposure you have between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon when UV rays are the strongest.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Vollure Treatment?

You will need to come in for an initial consultation to verify that you are a good Vollure candidate. However, you can feel pretty confident that you will be considered a good fit for this treatment if you are concerned about marionette lines, parentheses lines, nasolabial folds, or thin lips. It is extremely important that you attend an initial evaluation with an aesthetic expert to verify that this treatment will be effective for you.

Sometimes, nasolabial folds are caused by overactive muscles rather than collagen loss. In such cases, an injectable dermal filler would not be effective. During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss all of your cosmetic concerns and identify their cause to identify which treatments will be effective. If you have cosmetic concerns caused by overactive muscles, you’ll need an injectable muscle relaxant to achieve your desired look.

Who Isn’t a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

You will be considered a poor fit for this treatment if you are not yet 21 years of age. The FDA has only approved this treatment for individuals who are over the age of 20. Furthermore, you will be considered a poor fit for this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Currently, there is no research on the effects of this injectable on a fetus or nursing infant. Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend holding off on this treatment if you are pregnant.

Note that there are other factors besides pregnancy that may disqualify you from treatment. For example, you will not be able to get treatment if your skin is irritated. Therefore, problems as simple as sunburn can prevent you from being treated temporarily. Other common problems that will prevent you from getting treated include oral herpes outbreaks, acne outbreaks, rosacea flare-ups, and infections.
